LWD (Learn Work Develop) is a public interest non
-governmental organization created by the “VESE” (Volunteers for Effective Work
and Sustainable Employment) on 5th November 2013 in the purpose of
contributing to Rwandan governmental programs related to the productivity and
youth employment, focusing primarily on education, life skills development and
job creation among the young girls and women.
The reasons which motivated the VESE to create this
organization are the following:
-
Jobless
among the youth
-
The
youth age is the suitable period to prepare the future for him/herself and the
country
-
There
are different programs available in favor of the youth, but the youths are not
aware of those programs (VISION 2020, EDPRS II, 7YGP, NEP, BDF, …), more
especially the young girls
-
Some
of the youths want to achieve many things without any kind of tiredness and
despise many important/productive professions.
Therefore, these reasons may be the
causes of the following consequences:
-
HIV/AIDS
and other diseases
-
Early marriage
-
Early
and unwanted pregnancies conducting to the death and/or other related illness
and disabilities (fistula, …)
-
Drug
abuse and other bad behaviors (risky sexual relations, …)
-
Economic
dependence conducting to the frequentation of sugar daddies and sugar mummies
To prevent and deal with all above
problems, the VESE organized in Learn Work Develop (LWD) initiated six programs
through which different activities must be done.
